Roles include:
- Providing direct care for children with emotional and behavioral challenges in residential settings
- Supporting children and adults with developmental disabilities
- Case managers for children, families and adults
- Providing direct educational services to students with special needs in classroom and community
- Community integration specialist, providing services to clients with chronic mental illness
Program details:
Duration: The sponsorship is 12-18 months, commercing in February, May, August and November 2010.
Stipend: Each trainee will be remunerated with a monthly stipend of $865.
Accommodation: Housing will be provided for free but is not on site.
Location: The placements are all located on the East Coast; Predominately in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Further services: One week orientation upon arrival and On-going support over the whole duration of the program

| Pre-requisite: | You qualify for this program, if you: - are a graduate with a bachelor/diploma in a social services related field of study. - are interested in professional developement in the United States - are able to understand academic training and professional identity well enough to communicate professional concepts with American colleagues - have an International Drivers's License Pocket Money to bring to the US: $3,300 In order to reach the placement site and to be mobile during your job, you will get assistance in purchasing a car ( estimated $3,000 for buying a used car). After the program, assistance will be provided for resale. |
